Youth Volunteering
Africa’s youth is one of its biggest assets for the development of the continent, but also big contributors to peace building. Engaging youth through volunteerism is an excellent way to tap into that potential, benefiting both society at large and the young people themselves. It is also part of the creative, participatory and quick win strategy to tackle the significant challenges facing the youth (African Union Peace Corps, 2008).

Young people are one of our society’s most valuable resources.  They have the willingness to take new challenges, the enthusiasm to learn new skills, and the commitment to build new alliances and networks (Ian Russel)

National Volunteer Network Trust (NAVNET) is in the process of developing Youth Volunteering Programme to recruit youth volunteers to provide service to schools, clinics, hospitals and help farmers improve their fields, support in environmental conservation, peace-building initiatives and other capacity building activities. The aim of the program is to enable youth to make contributions to national development at the community level. The case example is Kenyatta University Students Volunteering Programme sponsored by Equity Bank of Kenya.

The main goal is to contribute to Human Resource Development (HRD) in line with Kenya’s Vision 2030 through effective youth participation in Kenya’s development process which include youth as key beneficiaries

National Volunteer Network Trust (NAVNET) can work with your organization, university, college, school, church, government ministry to develop and implement a Youth Volunteering programme that suits your organization’s needs and matches with the aspirations of the youth.
