About the VIO Network of Kenya |
| Volunteer Involving Organizations (VIO) Network of Kenya is a network of organizations involved in volunteerism that was formed in 2004 but formally inaugurated in May 2008. The network is a loose amalgamation of organizations that work in development through volunteers and that promote volunteerism as a means to development. It is currently made up of twenty members with efforts to grow it membership base to all organizations in Kenya that actively involve both Kenyan and international volunteers. One of the objectives of VIO Network is to bring people together to develop volunteerism as a strategy for national development. |
| Objectives of VIO Network |
- To develop national volunteer standards and a self regulation of the volunteering sector.
- To lobby and advocate with the government for the development and implementation of national volunteering policies that will enable the volunteerism sector flourish
- To work with the government’s statistics department to ensure an annual quantification of volunteer contribution in national accounts
- To map out organizations in Kenya that work through volunteers and develop a directory.
- To promoting volunteerism in Kenya through forum ands a media campaign
- To vet the aspiring members using a set guidelines of volunteer involving organizations
- To capacity building of network member organizations.
